By day, Eric Schmidt runs the Illinois Conservation Foundation, the charitable arm of the Illinois Department of Natural Resources. And on weekends, he is an Emmy Award winning reporter, bringing viewers closer to the action in his sideline sports reporter role.
While attending the University of Illinois, Eric interned at the University's sports information office, as well as with SportsChannel Chicago. After graduation, he joined WCIA in Champaign as a reporter. Eric moved to Chicago in 1997 and continued to expand his communications skills in the marketing, public relations and charity sectors.
Eric has served as the community relations liaison for CLTV in Oakbrook, as well as in development roles for Advocate Healthcare. His latest position was overseeing the "Magnificent Moments" camaign, the first-ever philanthropic partnership with the Ryder Cup. He also was an on-site feature reporter for the award winning Chicago Bears Community Huddle program, and was the restaurant and bar correspondent for Prime Time Chicago.
Eric continues to give freely of his personal time in a number of community service roles which have included Reviving Baseball in the Inner Cities, Boys & Girls Clubs of Chicago, the Animal Care League, the Westchester Educational Foundation, and Alpha Kappa Lambda Fraternity. Eric currently lives in Westchester with his wife, former House Sweetheart Carrie, and two children, Taylor and Austin.
